Facial Feminization Surgery (FFS): Exploring the Non-surgical Procedures

We all know about the surgical techniques that are part of Facial Feminization Surgery. These usually include procedures like nose jobs to feminize the nose, tracheal shaves to eliminate the Adam’s apple, etc. Hairline advancement is also another surgery that’s highly in-demand among those who desire facial feminization since it helps soften the look of the upper face dramatically. However, apart from plastic surgery, there are non-surgical procedures that can transform the face by softening the features and help to achieve changes that plastic surgery may not be enough for. In this blog, we will explore all these non-surgical FFS procedures and how each one works to make one’s appearance more feminine.

Liquid Feminization (Injectable)

Injectable treatments usually refer to Botox and dermal fillers. With FFS dermal fillers, the goal is to plump up targeted areas such as the cheeks and lips and even add volume to certain parts of the face like the jaw, etc.

Dermal fillers such as Hyaluronic acid injections can even help with non-surgical nose jobs as they can make the nose shape look more aesthetic. Filler can help temporarily eliminate a bump in the nose bridge and make it more straighter and narrower to appear more feminine. Moreover, fillers can also enhance the nose’s projection.

For lips, dermal fillers are a great way to achieve facial feminization without surgery as they can add more volume to the lips. They can plump them and make them symmetrical  to look more like women’s lips.

Additionally, fillers also help with accentuating certain facial features to bring about  a more drastic yet natural-looking transformation. This includes adding volume to the cheeks, enhancing chin projection and more.

To add to this, Botox also holds a significant amount of importance in FFS. It is highly effective in softening the bulky male features and making them more feminine.

The non-surgical jaw reduction is one of the best examples of how Botox can change the face shape. Typically, men have more square and bulky jaws compared to women whose jaws are not as wide and even a little round.

Masseter Botox can be used to shrink the masseter muscle and make the lower half of the face appear smaller and more narrow.

Botox also helps with a non-surgical lip flip where the muscle that makes the lip droop is paralyzed to make the upper lip more perked up and visible.

Thread Lifts

A non-surgical facelift using threads involves the use of medical-grade threads to make the skin more taut and lifted. However, the results aren’t as drastic as that of a surgical facelift. Not to mention, the results also only last for about 3 years. Since the PDO threads are absorbable, they are highly safe to use and the whole procedure is also minimally-invasive.

Skin Treatments

Skin treatments like chemical peels help rejuvenate the skin and help make it appear more youthful and even-toned. In addition to this, Ultherapy can also help boost collagen in the skin and make it much more smoother and tighter.

🧖‍♀️ Temporary Vs. Permanent FFS

Here is a table that breaks down the difference between temporary and permanent facial feminization.

Non-surgical Facial FeminizationFacial Feminization Surgery
Non-surgical facial feminization is a lot less drastic in its results and offers only temporary changes to the face.Facial feminization surgery is a permanent approach to feminizing the face
It involves the use of Botox and fillers to add volume in particular areas of the face and also make areas like the forehead look smoother to soften the face’s appearance. It involves surgical intervention, including procedures like brow lifts, rhinoplasties, etc to permanently alter the face and feminize it.
Results only last 1 to 2 years. The results achieved due to FFS are permanent
The costs are recurring however, the non-surgical treatments aren’t as high-pricedSince this surgery involves multiple procedures, the total cost is expensive

🎯 How Long Does Facial Feminization Surgery Take?

While the non-surgical FFS procedures only take about 30-40 minutes to complete, the Facial Feminization Surgery can last anywhere between 4 to 8 hours.

✨ What Does the Recovery Phase of Non-surgical Facial Feminization Look Like?

The recovery phase of the non-surgical FFS compared to the surgical one is a lot shorter and only involves slight discomfort. Patients can go back to their daily routine after the first 48 hours while the coming weeks will involve a drastic reduction in the swelling and bruising.
